Donation Honors Camden native, former WNBA player Valerie Still
(Camden, NJ) – The Camden Schools Foundation (CSF) announced it was the recipient of a $10,000 donation from Carpenter Technology Corporation in honor of Valerie Still. The donation will be used to empower youths in Camden, N.J., through mind, body, and soul, through mentorships and scholarships. This generous gift is in addition to the $2,500 scholarships CSF awards local high school seniors with each year.
“The Camden Schools Foundation is committed to supporting Camden’s remarkable youth through scholarship opportunities and various programming. Carpenter Technology’s generosity will have a direct and positive impact on youths we serve. We are grateful for this donation as well as our many community partners, corporate sponsors, and individual donors who support our mission each year,” said Jack Tarditi, CSF Board President.
Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million in scholarships to hundreds of high school seniors in Camden city using financial need and academic achievement as criteria. This year, CSF will add another scholarship opportunity through the support of this $10,000 donation from Carpenter Technology. This donation honors Camden native, former WNBA player, CSF Hall of Fame honoree, and philanthropist Valerie Still, who will work together with the foundation to develop a mentorship and scholarship program for youths in Camden.
“The difference between success and significance is service to others. It’s about leaving a legacy and doing what I can to make this world a better place,” said Still. “I am honored and humbled to have this donation given in my name. More importantly, I am excited to work with organizations that are intentional about supporting their communities. This act of kindness and generosity by Carpenter Technology will be transformative for our young people in Camden.”

Carpenter Technology’s donation was part of its annual Impact Awards, an employee recognition event where awardees are able to choose an organization they would like to support with a monetary donation from Carpenter Technology. This donation to CSF further supported the spirit of the event and was given in appreciation of Still, who served as guest speaker.
